The National Board for Technical Education has issued a warning to all Nigerian professional and testing organizations to stop the unlawful practice of issuing certificates for the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.
The NBTE executive secretary, Idris Bugaje, revealed this in a statement made in Kaduna on Thursday.
Mr Bugaje released a statement, she said, expressing worries about the actions of certain professional and test organizations that claimed to be able to design, administer, and give degrees in a variety of fields at the ND and HND level.
He characterized such conduct as unlawful and in contravention of the law that created NBTE.
She asserts that the NBTE is still the only organization authorized by law under the federal government Decree. To approve, accredit, and control all courses in Nigeria that result in the awarding of ND and HND certifications, Act 16 of 1985 made changes to Act No. 9 of 1977.
The board also stated that just approved Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions, such as polytechnics, schools of nursing sciences, schools of health, schools of ND and HND programs were permitted to be administered by agriculture and other specialized schools that fulfill specific requirements.
As a result, the NBTE issued a warning that it would use its regulatory and legal authority without hesitation against any professional or examination organization discovered to be involved in such illegal activity.
The board urged the public and all parties involved to take note and make sure that the current laws governing technical education in the nation are followed.
