The Sheriff’s Office of Fulton County initiated an active inquiry to “identify the aggressor” due to the incident.

Yak Gotti was stabbed in prison on Sunday (Dec. 1) while waiting for a decision in YSL’s RICO trial. The “Rock Solid” rapper, born Deamonte Kendrick, was indicted along with Young Thug and 26 others. He suffered “minor injuries from a sharp object” but is still anticipated to be in court on Monday (Dec. 2).

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office verified to WSB-TV/Channel 2 that “Deamonte Kendrick, who is also recognized as rapper Yak Gotti, was involved in a fight with another inmate.” The event took place at the South Annex in Union City, where the two men were confined. Kendrick is scheduled to appear in court today. This is an ongoing investigation to identify the assailant in this incident and whether charges will follow.

Yak Gotti is one of the two remaining co-defendants in the racketeering trial. He and Shannon Stillwell — who happened to be stabbed during the holidays in December 2023 — declined plea agreements last October. Both are facing accusations related to the murder of Donovan “Nut” Thomas Jr. in 2015.

Douglas Weinstein, the attorney for the Atlanta rapper, stated that he “definitely plans to bring this to the jury, secure our not guilty verdicts, and return home” at that time. In contrast, Young Thug entered a no contest plea for RICO and gang leader offenses. Judge Paige Whitaker of the Superior Court sentenced him to time served for several counts and 15 years of probation.

Whitaker encouraged Young Thug to take his second opportunity to be a more positive role model for young people. “I recognize your talent, and if you decide to keep rapping, you should aim to use your influence to inform kids that this isn’t the best path and that there are alternatives to escaping poverty apart from connecting with the powerful person selling drugs at the end of the street,” she expressed.

Since his prison release, fans have yet to receive new music from the “Check” artist. His sister, Dora Williams, encouraged everyone to “simply allow him time” for mental healing.
