Halle Bailey and DDG have finally given fans what they’ve been waiting for—a formal musical collaboration—after expecting their first kid in 2023. The rapper released a new version of “If I Want You” on Monday night, August 12, with brand-new vocals from his accomplice.

Bailey boasted on the song, “There are many guys who would take care of me / Don’t think that you’re one and only / I deserve everything in the world / You could never bag a girl like me.” “I will never need you, so go ahead and drown me in your eyes. But if I want to, I’ll ride you all night.”

In the original version, found on the deluxe version of DDG’s It’s Not Me It’s You, the singer quietly added backup vocals to the chorus without giving credit. In the song video, she also took the lead role, replicating their off-screen romance as on-screen love interests.

The future plans for the Bailey-assisted track “If I Want You” are currently unknown; it may be included on an upcoming project or stay a loose single. But as of 2024, DDG has already broken several records. “Trickin'” made its premiere on August 2, while the songs “she ain’t leaving” and “copy my drip” were released the month before.

In March, the Michigan native dedicated “Shoot Up Your Block” to Halo, the son of himself and Bailey. During their family vacation to Italy, the couple made an official face reveal, despite keeping his identity a mystery for a while.

In response to criticism, DDG remarked, “I have to realize that my son is richer than them and he has a more successful life.” “He has only been alive for six months, but he has already traveled across the globe. They are impoverished, broke, hardly able to feed, and, because they are grown, most likely still living with their mother.
