Rev. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the spouse of the governor of Cross River State, has pledged the organization’s complete support and cooperation, recognizing FMWAN’s critical role in fostering a future in which empowered women can be constructive forces in society.

This information was disclosed by the governor’s wife at a meeting at the governor’s office in Calabar with the Muslim Women Organization, led by Ameerah Hajia Lateefah Yahaya Idinye. Reverend Otu emphasized FOMWAN’s commitment to women’s empowerment, health, and education.

He emphasized that the organization’s mission of advancing education—both Islamic and Western—is essential to transforming society for the better.

This has made FOMWAN stand out as one of Nigeria’s top organizations for Muslim women, particularly having an effect in Cross River State.

“I am delighted to have you here today, and my office will work with you to start your FOMWAN week.

“A woman with education, as you know, will know her rights and responsibilities, everything in her life will go according to plan, and she will be able to play her role in society effectively.”

“I promise that Muslim women will be included in the Pilgrim Welfare Board when it is established, and they will also receive sponsorship for the Hajj,” the woman stated.

Hajia Lateefah Yahaya Idinye, the Ameerah of FOMWAN for Cross River State, had earlier stated that she and her team had visited the first lady’s office as part of FOMWAN week’s events.

According to the Ameerah, the visit was also intended to express gratitude to the governor’s wife for her maternal role in the state, particularly in terms of securing possibilities for more women to hold positions in the State Executive Council and other government agencies.

“We are willing to add value to what the state government is doing, so we are seeking partnership between your office and Muslim women as well as inclusion in state affairs, especially Hajj activities,” she continued.

The first lady was given gifts and the FOMWAN annual report, which was the high point of the visit. In return, the first lady gave food and non-food items to the visiting Muslim Women’s Organization.

The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), according to the Tribune online, is a nonprofit, faith-based organization that unites Muslim women’s associations in 36 states and Abuja.
