The 2024 BET Awards are scheduled to feature a performance by South African musician Tyla.
The event this year is set for June 30, 2024, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Taraji P. Henson, who made a comeback after emceeing two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, will serve as the ceremony’s host.
The network said on Thursday, June 13, that Tyla will be performing for the first time at the renowned event, and the star-studded list includes YG Marley, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and many more.
Tyla is not only performing at the event, which is eagerly anticipated, but she is also a first-time nominee. She is the most nominated African artist of the year after receiving nods in multiple categories, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, Viewer’s Choice, and Best International Act. Watch out for these other African nominees: Tyler ICU, Focalistic, Makhadzi, and Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Seyi Vibez.
With seven nominations, American rapper Drake leads the field, followed by Nicki Minaj with six.
