The South African pop singer confronted a fan who suggested she should “simply walk naked in public” on social media.

Tyla is recognized as one of the quickest-ascending global talents in the music industry. On Saturday (Jan. 4), the South African pop artist reacted to a fan who had a negative response to her latest pictures on the app previously called Twitter.

In her first post, she posted beach photos with the caption, “Lookin like a tourist in my country,” to which a user replied, “Tyla, why not just stroll around naked, it seems you dislike clothes.” She answered, “Are you asking me to wear a onesie at the beach? “Shut up.” The fan returned after apologizing, but social media users swiftly rallied against the critic, asking why he would hassle her for wearing a bikini with a cover-up at the beach.

Tyla has gained viral fame since entering the music industry. Following her achievement with “Water” on social media, her visibility and impact surged, dispelling the “one-hit wonder” theories circulating online. Her first album Tyla featured several hit songs such as “Jump,” “PUSH 2 START,” and “Truth or Dare.” She has collaborated with artists including Tems, Gunna, Skillibeng, Travis Scott, Becky G, among others.

In a September interview with ELLE Magazine, she stated, “At first, I used to care. Lately, I’ve been feeling [like], “They can say whatever they want, and it doesn’t even matter because I understand it’s not true,” when discussing her emotions about critics.

Later in the interview, elaborating on her swift career advancement, she remarked, “I’m highly engaged in all aspects of my work: my sound, my appearance, my clothing, my look.” It is important, and it is important that it aligns with my emotions, and it connects to the music. Ultimately, I’m an artist at heart. “I model, but it’s only part-time.”
