At the 2024 BET Awards, Childish Gambino, Latto, and numerous others honored Usher with a special performance.
Ursh’s 2001 hit song “U Don’t Have To Call” was the first song to be crooned by Childish. Keke Palmer, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Tinashe, Chlöe Bailey, Teyana Taylor, and Victoria Monét then joined in with a medley of some of his biggest hits, such as “Superstar,” “There Goes My Baby,” and “Nice & Slow,” before Latto wrapped up the spectacular performance by rapping Ludacris’ verse on “Yeah!”
The 45-year-old was beaming broadly as he saw the packed event from the audience. The homage was a part of a memorable evening for the native of Atlanta, who also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual event. In addition, he won the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist trophy.

Usher received the Voice of the Culture Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers throughout the course of the weekend.
According to a news release, the award is given to ASCAP members who “have had a major influence on music and culture” in honor of “their success as creators and changemakers.”
At an event in Los Angeles last month, the singer received the award as part of a celebration recognizing the leading R&B and soul performers.
Usher had an incredible year, leading up to the Super Bowl, finishing up a 100-show run in Las Vegas, and releasing his ninth studio album.
With 123.4 million views, his Super Bowl halftime show swiftly rose to the top of the TV historical ratings, according to Billboard.
It exceeded both Dr. Dre’s star-studded 2022 show, which featured 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige, and Rihanna’s 2023 show, in which she announced her second child was on the way.
At the NAACP Image Awards in March, Usher also won two awards: Entertainer of the Year and the President’s Award. He used the occasion to express gratitude to the women in his life for helping him pursue his aspirations.
He remarked at the event, “They say that behind, beside, or with every strong man is a stronger woman. For that, I thank my mother and I thank my beautiful wife Jennifer for holding me down.”
