Travis Scott now holds the record for the most successful solo Hip Hop tour, surpassing Kendrick Lamar. According to Billboard, the Circus Maximus Tour of the Houston rapper has brought in close to $210 million and sold 1.7 million tickets since starting in October 2023.
During the journey promoting his successful album UTOPIA, Scott performed 78 concerts on four different continents. Kendrick’s Big Steppers Tour previously held the record, bringing in $110 million.
Even though Scott’s solo rap tour is the largest, he is still lagging behind Drake, J. Cole and 21 Savage, who earned an incredible $320 million from their joint tour, It’s All A Blur Tour.
Recently, Hip Hop tours have been flourishing, as 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj have both gone on international tours that have each made more than $100 million.
Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 Tour was groundbreaking because it made her the initial female rapper to earn over $100 million from a solo tour.
She became the fifth Black woman to achieve this milestone, joining Beyoncé, Rihanna, SZA, and Tina Turner.
During this time, Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour marked his first worldwide journey in five years since his Astroworld – Wish You Were Here Tour.
The tour, which included 57 performances, earned over $63 million, indicating that the Cactus Jack rapper has tripled his earnings from the previous shows, even though he only performed 21 additional gigs.
Although he just completed a long tour, Scott is not taking a break and has already been confirmed to perform at Coachella next year. Travis Scott will not only perform but also organize the festival, known as “Travis Scott Designs The Desert,” happening on April 11-13 and April 18-20.
A press release announced that Scott’s “Cactus Jack desert takeover” will create an immersive and experiential world in the desert. It also indicated that he will be presenting new music on Saturday night during both weekends, introducing a completely new music era to the world.
Apart from Travis Scott, Post Malone, Green Day, and Lady Gaga will also be the main acts at the California festival.
