The “Say It” artist has not yet provided a formal apology to Megan regarding the distressing incident.
Tory Lanez reflected on the evening of his shooting incident with Megan Thee Stallion in his Friday (Dec. 13) release, “HANDLING BUSINESS.”
In the track, created alongside DDG, the “Say It” artist rapped, “Shorty, my city speaks very fondly of me, they know these b**ches can’t ever deny me/ The only thing I regret from that night is jumping out of the pool with Kylie.”
For context, Lanez — convicted on three felony charges in 2023 — shot Megan in the feet during a fierce dispute in July 2020. The confrontation occurred shortly after the duo, accompanied by the Houston native’s ex-best friend Kelsey Nicole and his bodyguard, exited Kylie Jenner’s residence in Hollywood.
Later in Lanez’s verse, he rapped, “I’m actually returning home faster than expected/ They believed I wasn’t making music while in the cell.” The Canadian musician received a 10-year prison term for assault with an automatic weapon, possessing an unregistered loaded gun in a vehicle, and recklessly firing a firearm. At the moment of his sentencing in August 2023, he had already received credit for 305 days served, which included time spent under house arrest and in jail.
Despite being convicted, Lanez has not yet offered a formal apology to Megan. “I was not, in any way, shape, or form, apologizing for the charges for which I’m being unjustly convicted,” he stated in a declaration days following his conviction. “I maintain my position that I will not apologize for something I did not commit.”
Since that time, and even prior to his sentencing, the PLAYBOY founder’s supporters have relentlessly harassed Megan, to such an extent that she is suing one of the bloggers supposedly connected to disseminating “false claims.” In October, the Grammy Award recipient initiated legal action against YouTuber Milagro Gramz, whom she referred to as a “puppet and mouthpiece” for Lanez.
“That’s sufficient.” Ms. Pete — an advocate for women’s rights and a victim of violent crime to millions of fans globally — will no longer tolerate [the] defendant’s harassment campaign,” her lawyers stated.
