Daniel Bwala, a representative for President Bola Tinubu, has indicated that the administration plans to unveil the names of individuals and groups supporting and funding terrorist actions in Nigeria very soon, likely within a matter of days.
Speaking in a television interview, Bwala emphasized that the current administration under Tinubu is proactively taking significant and impactful measures to address national security concerns, particularly in identifying those enabling terrorist activities throughout the nation.
“The government is implementing strong interventions. In the near future, the Nigerian public will learn the identities of the terrorist elements and their financial backers,” stated the special advisor on policy communication on Sunday.
Bwala pointed out that the government is increasing its efforts to combat the activities of armed criminal gangs whose operations, including kidnapping for ransom, murders, and attacks, continue to pose a threat to communities across the country.
He further highlighted that terrorism has become a worldwide issue that goes beyond national boundaries, making international collaboration vital in fighting extremist factions.
“Since the September 11th attacks, terrorism has been viewed as a global security matter. Any country where terrorist groups are active becomes a concern for the entire international community,” Bwala explained.
The presidential spokesperson added that major global players are increasingly acknowledging the importance of supporting countries like Nigeria, where extremist organizations are trying to expand their influence.
Bwala clarified that extreme actions, which were once primarily concentrated in regions of the Middle East, have gradually migrated to the Sahel area, creating new focal points of instability that necessitate enhanced regional and worldwide cooperation.
His statements come against the backdrop of recent violent incidents in various parts of the country, including Kwara, Kogi, Kebbi, and Katsina states, where armed criminals have conducted abductions and lethal assaults in recent days.
