Tim Westwood might be charged with a crime after being accused of sexual assault several times.

Between 1992 and 2017, a number of women accused the pioneering British radio DJ of engaging in unwelcome sexual conduct and abusing his position in the UK music industry.

Investigating police officers have now turned the case over to the Crown Prosecution Service, which will determine whether Westwood may be charged with a crime.

“A file of evidence has now been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), and our team continues to make inquiries, with support from prosecutors,” said lead investigator Det. Supt. Andy Furphy in a statement. As part of our commitment to making London a safer place for women and girls, we will conduct a thorough and appropriate investigation into sexual offenses.

“A man in his 60s has been interviewed under caution four times,” the Metropolitan Police continued. The crimes are said to have taken place in London between 1982 to 2016.

“I can confirm that such allegations are false and without any foundation,” Westwood said in response to the initial charges.

He left his position on Capital Radio a day later, and he hasn’t been on the air since.

During what they thought were talks with music industry chances, three of the ladies accused Westwood of engaging in “predatory sexual behavior.”

Four other ladies allege that he touched them as they posed for a photo with him following a nightclub performance.

At the time of the claimed assaults, all of the alleged victims were Black and in their late teens or early 20s.

One victim, a 19-year-old aspiring singer/songwriter, alleges that in 2010, while sitting next to her in a car, 53-year-old Westwood removed his pants and exposed himself. He allegedly undressed completely, put on a condom, and started having sex with her after they arrived into his apartment, “frozen” her in the process.

None of the victims knew one another, and neither the police nor Westwood’s former employer, the BBC, had been informed of their encounters. The BBC has already opened an investigation into the DJ’s behavior while working for their radio stations.
