At her Malibu, California, home on Saturday, Shannen Doherty, the adored actress best remembered for playing Brenda Walsh on the classic television series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” passed away.

In an email, her spokeswoman Leslie Sloane verified that cancer was the cause of death.

After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, Doherty candidly discussed her experience, emphasizing the mental and physical obstacles she had to overcome.

Even in times of remission, the illness eventually spread.

Doherty, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 12, 1971, started acting at a young age. She played Jenny Wilder in the well-liked family drama “Little House on the Prairie,” which served as her breakthrough role in 1982.

But she shot to fame when she played Brenda Walsh on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

After its 1990 debut, the show swiftly gained popularity across the globe, with Doherty’s character playing a key role in the adolescent drama.

After leaving “90210” in 1994, Doherty carried on leaving her imprint in the entertainment business.

Her role as Prue Halliwell in the paranormal thriller “Charmed” cemented her reputation as a television icon even more. Her performance brought her many awards and a devoted following.
