Bushwick Bill seems unafraid to approach Michael Jackson directly and strike up a conversation once, even if their levels of renown might not be that different.

Lil Bushwick, the late rapper’s son, described his father’s extravagant image with fondness during his Monday, July 29, B High TV podcast interview. He also recounted a story he had heard about his father’s meeting with the iconic Michael Jackson.

He said, “Geto Boys and Michael Jackson both had shows on the same dates going to Japan.” “So, while traveling to Japan, my dad ran into Michael Jackson, who just approached him.” Big Mike told me this story and even he can vouch to it. And there was the DJ for the Geto Boys. “Yeah, your dad just walked up to Michael Jackson [and shrugged like it was nothing,” he said, breaking it down further. That’s just the kind of thing he would do.

It was just the way he was. He saw no one who was different. He was that it-factor in every room he entered, and because he didn’t care who you were, everyone knew who he was. I’m not sure what they discussed, but I do know that they ran into each other, chopped it up, and he was aware of my dad’s identity. A mutual love existed. And security, he was unaffected by anything. That’s Bushwick Bill, they said.

Not long after Bushwick In 2019, the Geto Boys announced The Beginning of a Long Goodbye Tour, which was supposed to be their final reunion run. Bill then told TMZ Live (and the world) he was sick. But Bushwick canceled a day before it was supposed to start. He had a gut feeling he might die while driving.

Later that year, Bill’s son informed HipHopDX, “The Geto Boys reunion tour was going to start May 24.” “On May 23, my dad was hospitalized to a hospital in Texas. He was hardly able to move. Basically, the chemotherapy caused walking pneumonia. In addition to his illness, they gave my dad chemotherapy, which made him much sicker.

“My dad was literally just trying to put shows together and work, even though he was really sick,” he continued. Following chemotherapy sessions, he would immediately proceed to the studio. He and I spent about twenty-three hours in the studio together. He would jump on me and say, “You got to be up,” while I was drifting off to sleep. We started working. He really did want to complete the project. The man slept very little.

According to Lil Bushwick, his father consciously decided to stop receiving chemotherapy treatments. He thought they were actually hastening his decline.

He says, “He felt his body getting weaker and worse, so he stopped doing chemo on his own.” “Man, I don’t feel right,” he said. He thought that the fourth chemotherapy session was killing him, and that was indeed the case. He went to the hospital on Monday and checked himself in. He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia.

“That would have been his final gig, and he would have truly passed away while traveling, had he performed that show on May 24. He objected to the tour’s title because he believed he would have perished while traveling. He was really that sick.
