N1.5 billion has been authorized by the Jigawa administration to be released for the payment of unpaid benefits to state retired civil officials.
In a statement released in Dutse on Tuesday, Sagir Musa, the commissioner for information, youths, sports, and culture, explained this.
According to Mr. Musa, the state executive council gave its approval to the distribution on Tuesday.
He clarified that the gesture was a component of the administration of Governor Umar Namadi’s pledge to enhance the well-being of state pensioners and to promptly pay their retirement benefits.
As reported by the head of service’s office at the meeting, the commissioner also stated that the council had approved the funds as an intervention to the state pension board for the payment of unpaid retirement benefits to pensioners.
He said the governor reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing civil servants’ welfare and well-being, even after they retire.
