The moniker Hood Poet, which stands for “He Overcame Obstacles During Pain Or Emotional Trauma,” is the title of Polo G’s fourth full-length studio album. It was released in December 2021 as the deluxe version of his third full-length studio album, June 2021’s Hall of Fame.

The album was initially supposed to be a joint effort with Southside, the legendary producer, but it was eventually revealed that the project would be solo.

After the lead track from the album, “Distraction,” was out, Polo started to tease his project by indicating it with the tornado emoji on Southside. He kept teasing his project throughout 2023 with the release of a number of noteworthy singles, including “My All” and “No Time Wasted,” which featured Future.

But in August 2023, posters featuring the album’s lyrics and a QR code started to surface throughout Los Angeles.

With the release of the album’s trailer on August 15, 2023, Polo formally confirmed the project. It was mentioned that the second single from the album, “Barely Holdin’ On,” would be out by the end of the week.

Polo later announced that the album will not be released until further notice, citing a “minor setback” that he believed to be connected to his current legal battle.
