SZA’s SOS has climbed back to number one on the Billboard 200 due to her deluxe album with Lana.

Initially launched in 2022 to significant critical praise and financial success, the project has returned to the top spot after the release of its 15-track deluxe on December 20, as reported by Billboard.

For the chart’s purpose, every version of the album is grouped together as SOS, with the project selling 178,000 equivalent units in the past week, primarily due to the new release.

Had Lana been launched as an independent project, it would have still achieved the number one spot on the Billboard 200, with its 15 tracks generating 105,000 units alone — outpacing Michael Bublé’s Christmas by 5,000 units, which currently ranks second on this week’s chart.

It has been 22 months since SOS last reached the pinnacle of the Billboard 200, setting the record for the longest interval for any album to regain the top position.

SZA’s hit second album has now achieved 11 nonconsecutive weeks at the top spot and has consistently remained in the top 20 of the chart since its launch two years back.

SZA expressed her gratitude for the ongoing success of SOS by saying “thank you” to her fans on her Instagram Stories.

She also posted on X (formerly Twitter): “If it weren’t for God’s blessings in my life this year, wow.” My mom and dad are fit. earned 3 Grammys. reached number one again. Performed on Sesame Street. Filmed a movie. Photographed a Vogue cover. Traveled around the globe. Received an award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. WHO JAH BLESSES, NO MAN CAN CURSE!! NO PERSON!!! “AMEN.”

The TDE artist also announced that Lana will receive new songs and mixes next month, stating: “I just learned that all updated mixes and new tracks will be added on January 6th when the label returns from vacation.”

“Sorry they aren’t able to do it any earlier [face holding back tears emoji].” Just wanted to keep you all updated [heart emoji] Thank you for your understanding [heart emoji].

In other news, SZA has recently responded to requests for her to create a collaborative album with her regular partner Kendrick Lamar.

The 35-year-old shared an interesting video on her Instagram Stories last week, prompting fans to speculate that a joint project might be forthcoming.

“I represent all Kendrick and SZA fans when I express – we need an EP, man,” says the individual in the video. “We require a complete project featuring collaborations between Kendrick and SZA.” This chemistry is, at this moment, indisputable! “Whenever they meet up, it’s a success, man!”

SZA wrote in the video caption: “Need to check with the big guy [shrug emoji].”

The previous TDE labelmates have worked together many times throughout the years, with their latest collaboration being on Kendrick’s GNX album (“Luther,” “Gloria”) and Lana’s track (“30 For 30”).

The duo will be touring together next year on the Grand National Tour, where they will headline venues throughout North America.

The 23-show tour begins on April 19 in Minneapolis, MN, and concludes on June 18 in Washington, DC, including planned stops in cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco, and K. Dot’s native Los Angeles, among others.
