SZA is really enjoying everything her TDE label colleague Doechii is currently doing and has called the Florida rapper her favorite artist in the industry.
In a post shared on X on Thursday (January 2), SZA expressed her thoughts creatively regarding her friend.
“Yea, doechii is absolutely my favorite artist right now.” “Forget the genre,” she expressed.
The affection was promptly reciprocated, as Doechii responded, “Scissoorrrrrr [heart and alligator emojis] love you sis!”
SZA’s post was probably inspired by the debut of Doechii’s new music video for “Denial Is A River,” which came out on that same day.
In the days before the video debuted, the TDE rapper shared several amusing teaser clips reminiscent of 90s sitcoms, which she referred to as the Denial Is A River Show. This sparked rumors that she could be releasing an entire series, but it turns out they were cleverly designed promos recorded during the music video shoot featuring a lineup of famous guest appearances that includes Zack Fox, Earl Sweatshirt, Teezo Touchdown, DJ Miss Milan, ScHoolboy Q, SiR, Baby Tate, Rickey Thompson, and H Wood.
The end result is a visual treat showcasing Doechii and her guests wreaking havoc in a beautiful house while she raps about her swift ascent to stardom – culminating in a literal bang as the soundstage-created set detonates.
SZA has previously expressed her affection for everything related to Doechii as well.
Before the release of the song “Alter Ego” with JT last year, SZA was expressing her admiration for the track on social media.
In response to Doechii’s weekend post revealing the new song, SZA wrote: “THIS IS MY FUCKING SHITTT I’M ABOUT TO TEAR MY FUCKING PUBES OUT !!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
The SOS singer also turned to her Instagram Stories to share a video that JT posted to generate excitement for the song. Above the reshare, the New Jersey artist stated: “On 3/29, she’s set to release the wildest song I’ve heard this year .. damn. “May God bless everyone [laughing emoji].”
SZA and Doechii jointly worked on the 2022 track “Persuasive” from Doechii’s first EP she/her/black bitch.
