The “Love Galore” artist delighted fans with yet another preview ahead of ‘LANA’ getting “revised mixes and fresh tracks.”
SZA fans didn’t receive the LANA news they anticipated on Monday (Jan. 6), but luckily, she offered something to tide them over. Although the “Love Galore” artist first hinted that “new songs and updated mixes” would be available on DSPs, fans were presented with another clip of unreleased music instead.
Remaining true to the nature-themed imagery featured in “Drive” and prior promotional content, the video depicted SZA reclining by a fire while wearing a fur coat. “Still throwing tantrums/ They’re just as big as my a/ Pages lengthy like the mass/ ‘Cause anger is as brief as your dk/ I got demons, who’s inquiring?” she sang over the Jay Versace-produced beat.
In other parts of the album, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist dropped nods to Netflix’s “Tiger King” and the Toy Story series: “Peddling feline like Carole/ Enjoying my vibe, dude, I’m simply moving the needle/ Keep the faith/ In my denim, like Darian Holt/ To infinity and beyond, I’m feeling a thrill from the potential.” Watch the complete video below.
On December 30, 2024, SZA revealed that SOS Deluxe: LANA would receive an update on January 6, coinciding with her label’s return from the holiday break. She posted on Twitter, “Apologies they can’t make it happen any sooner.” Just wanted to keep everyone informed. “Thank you all for your understanding.” Among the hinted tracks were unreleased treasures such as “Open Arms,” the cherished “Take You Down,” and “PSA.”
LANA added an impressive 15 new tracks to the original LP, which first launched near the end of 2022. Alongside contributions from longstanding partners Carter Lang, The Antydote, and Michael Uzowuru, SZA treated fans to “Kitchen,” “Diamond Boy (DTM),” “BMF,” and the Kendrick Lamar-featured “30 For 30.”
The album eventually regained the top position on Billboard’s 200 chart after 22 months. As of Sunday (Jan. 5), this marked the first album to remain at the top of the index for 12 weeks or longer since Drake’s Views.
