Actress Stormy Daniels, who specializes in adult films, spoke out against former US President Donald Trump’s conviction and stated that she thought he ought to go to jail in an interview that was published this past weekend in the British tabloid The Mirror.
Daniels stated in the interview, which was released late on Saturday, “I think he should be sentenced to jail and some community service working for the less fortunate, or being the volunteer punching bag at a women’s shelter.”
On the day of the 2016 presidential election, a jury consisting of twelve New Yorkers convicted Trump guilty on 34 counts of business fraud for attempting to conceal payments of hush money to Daniels.
Daniels, whose true name is Stephanie Clifford, received a $130,000 payment in exchange for remaining silent and preventing a scandal from erupting before Trump narrowly won the election.
Daniels claims that she has now been “vindicated” after years of hurling abuses at Trump on social media. However, she expressed surprise at the speed at which the jury reached its verdict, which resulted in Trump being the first former US president to be found guilty of a crime.
At one point during the conversation, Daniels also called the presidential candidate “completely and utterly out of touch with reality” and likened him to a toddler.
‘Intimidating’
The former adult film director and actor’s compelling testimony—which included detailed details of what she claims was a light-hearted sexual encounter in 2006—helped bring Trump down in court.
In the interview with the Mirror, she remarked, “Being in court was so intimidating with the jurors looking at you,” but she was also relieved that it had been established that she had been “telling the truth the entire time.”
“For me, it’s not over yet. I will always be a part of it. Even though Trump is guilty, I still have to deal with his legacy.
In the days after the conviction on Thursday, the 45-year-old had been unusually silent.
Barrett Blade, Daniels’ spouse, had earlier stated to CNN that she was “still processing” the verdict. He implied that Trump’s followers might pose a threat to her.
Blade made a reference to Trump’s Make America Great Again movement when he remarked, “You know, all the MAGA idiots are going to be coming after her.”
Daniels added, according to the Mirror, that she will never be free from death threats from Trump’s followers.
‘Vicious’ atmosphere
Daniels’s attorney Clark Brewster described the climate around the trial as “so vicious and threatening… from the standpoint of just the fear of what somebody might do” in an interview with a local ABC News affiliate.
Daniels is a self-made lady who overcame a hard upbringing and the adult film industry to become a prosperous businesswoman.
However, she recently disclosed in a documentary that she has been harmed by the unceasing insults from Trump and his followers, despite her seemingly tough and amusing social media character.
“That was like, ‘liar, ”slut,’ and ‘gold digger,’ back in 2018,” she remarked in the movie “Stormy.”
“This time, things are considerably different. “I’m going to come to your house and slit your throat,” and “your daughter should be put to death” are examples of explicit threats.
Tensions in the already sharply divided nation have increased as a result of the trial and its findings.
On Friday, Trump attacked the trial and the judge who oversaw it with a barrage of derogatory remarks and unfounded allegations.
On Friday, his campaign boasted that the conviction had increased his support “like never before” and announced that it had received close to $53 million in online donations.
The verdict is anticipated to be appealed by Trump, who is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11. Although a prison term is a possibility, probation is far more likely.
