Cardi B’s ardent admirers are eager to learn everything about her eagerly anticipated sophomore album, and the Bronx sensation’s latest Princess Diana-inspired ensemble has set the Bardi Gang ablaze with conjecture.

On Monday, June 24, Cardi looked great while out and about. She donned a vintage Harvard sweatshirt, shorts, and shoes, matching the late Princess of Wales’s almost exact 1997 ensemble. This is one of Cardi’s shortest hairstyles to date.

When side-by-side photos of the two sporting a similar appearance appeared on social media, Bardi Gang started to speculate.

One user commented with eye emojis, “The cover art of SZA’s’sos’ references Princess Diana,” while another added, “Princess Diana’s bday is July 1st…so maybe album announcement.”

“So the album is 90s themed,” conjectured another enthusiast.

Although Cardi B has been hinting at her follow-up to her 2018 breakthrough album Invasion of Privacy for some time, in recent weeks she has been building fan excitement.

Following a teaser post on her Instagram Story on June 20, she promised a Spanish-language album “after my English one” and asked fans to guess the title of her upcoming album.

After a heated exchange on social media in May, Cardi vowed to never release an album at all. However, her representatives subsequently told Rolling Stone that “an album in 2024 is still the plan.”

The magazine also states that the record was only halfway finished as of March and still required a title, features, an introduction, and a release schedule for at least three more tracks.

With regard to what may be anticipated from the next album, Cardi declared that she is “a different person every single day.” In moments of high spirits, when I’m around pals, I find myself thinking, “Damn, I want my shit to be played in this club.” I feel like I want to perform this song now, but then I could be upset with my partner. I then want to record a pop album, though. I want to perform my sing-along.

The rapper “Bodak Yellow” revealed in March that she has a ton of songs, some of which were recorded as long ago as early 2023.

“January 2023..I really got like 100 songs,” the Instagram post’s caption said. The image included a screen full of tracks for the song “Cunty,” all of which were recorded in late January of last year between four and five in the morning.

“20-20-fuckin’-three, January 27. You know I’m a night owl, so I be working on this shit at five in the morning,” she remarked, alluding to her work on the tune. “This year, I swear to you all: I won’t let my nervousness, what detractors say, or what fans say get to me. I’m just going to drop a song if I do it.

“Well, I’m releasing my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement. I had no choice.”

Through her song “Enough (Miami),” Cardi gave fans a preview of what to anticipate from her sophomore album in March. The song was released two weeks after she released “Like What (Freestyle),” which sampled the 1999 smash song “She’s a Bitch” by Missy Elliot.
