BNYX, an OVO associate and regular Drake collaborator, has expressed his opinion about individuals capitalizing on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” moment.
The multi-platinum producer lamented, “This s**t is getting old and corny,” in a since-deleted tweet in response to the widely shared video of Serena Williams making a reference to “Not Like Us” during her statement at the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday, July 11.
Williams made a lighthearted reference to the rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in the video. Williams stated, “If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s that none of us—not even me—should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” to applause as she danced to the song “Not Like Us.”
“He’ll turn your hometown against you. They will Forrest Gump Drake the next time he sits courtside at a Raptors game. The gold medallist from the Olympics said, “Seat’s taken.”

Even though the tweet is no longer active, fans retweeted the producer with gusto.
One user said, “You can tell exactly who is taking Drake’s L personally if you scroll through the comments.” “You can interview 50 Cent without mentioning Ja Rule, but you can’t interview Ja Rule without bringing up 50 Cent.” Another commenter said, “Bringing up Drake is Kendrick’s new claim to fame.” Another person said, “Drake didn’t pick the fight, lol; Kendrick has been dissing Drake for years.”
The Canadian emcee has been mentioning Williams in his tracks for years, despite the opinion held by some that the tennis champion was inappropriate in publicly taking sides. Additionally, he made fun of Williams’ spouse Alexis Ohanian in his 2022 hit “Middle of the Ocean.”
“He says we don’t have a problem, but it’s like you coming for sushi. We might just show up on them like Suzuki,” the rapper raps. “Sidebar, Serena, your husband is a groupie.”
The Reddit co-founder turned the rap artist’s nomination into a heartfelt gesture of support for his family. “Being the best at everything I do is what keeps me winning,” the winner said. Including being my wife’s and my daughter’s greatest groupie,” Ohanian posted on Twitter following the song’s release.
