Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has announced that the state government will pay salaries to government employees on June 14, ahead of the Sallah celebrations.

The governor stated this during the unveiling of the State Secretariat Complex on Wednesday in Benin City, the state capital.

He remarked, “I’ve heard all the praise for the minimum wage. I reassure the workers that it is not an accident. We are a thoughtful government that sits back and does its business. You are aware that, for the past seven and a half years, we have paid salaries on the 26th of each month.

“When we have holidays, we pay our employees before the holidays so they have money to celebrate. In the same vein, we will pay the salary for June on Friday, June 14th, ahead of the Salah celebration, allowing you to have a pleasant Sallah.”
