Mystery Fashionist had Rihanna share her most embarrassing fashion moments, and surprisingly, it wasn’t the sweatpants paired with heels.
Since her emergence in the mid-2000s, Rihanna has established herself as a fashion symbol, so it’s natural that she has some regrets. On Monday (Dec. 23), Ajay Porter from Mystery Fashionist met with the Bajan singer in New York, where she confessed that the weather was “cold as f**k.”
In their discussion, the duo talked about fashion trends that the music and beauty mogul regrets taking part in. “Dear God, why must you mention past troubles?” Rihanna made a joke. Porter also noted her choice of wearing sweatpants with heels, expressing her full acceptance of it: “I initiated that trend.” I would never regret that kind of thing, especially now that I’m a mom. “Heels are the greatest choice I could make for my damn pajamas.”
Following a brief pause, the multi-hyphenate settled on her ultimate response. “I think back to when I first began and wore baggy jeans with my underwear showing,” she remarked, adding, “What on earth was I thinking?” Significantly, in 2005, the mother of two had pink boy shorts visible above her jeans at the Teen People Listening Lounge hosted by JAY-Z.
In another part of their conversation, Rihanna shared the five essential fashion items she cannot do without. At the top of the list for the “Needed Me” vocalist was a New York Yankees snapback. She amusingly stated that her forehead is “too large” for fitted hats. Loose and snug retro jeans also made the final selection.
The Speedy Bandoulière from Louis Vuitton also appeared on the businesswoman’s list, as she remarked, “I would honestly sell all my bags for this one.” Arriving finally, but certainly not the least, Rihanna remarked, “Clearly underwear” while referring to Savage X Fenty.
December has been quite an eventful month for the singer who won a Grammy Award, to put it mildly. Just the previous week, Mariah Carey autographed her breast at the last stop of the “Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time” tour.
