Quando Rondo has received a nearly three-year prison sentence after admitting guilt to a federal drug offense.

In August, the rapper from Savannah, Georgia (real name Tyquian Bowman) admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy related to the possession and distribution of marijuana.

He has now received a sentence of two years and nine months in prison, slightly less than the five years he was originally facing for the offense.

The 25-year-old is also required to pay a fine of $40,000 and serve three years of probation after his release from prison.

Rondo will likewise undergo drug testing, mental health counseling, and educational training obligations.

The NBA YoungBoy artist explained to local ABC affiliate WJCL that he’s handling the sentence positively and sees it as “merely one part of his next story.”

“Although it may sound outrageous, that’s sufficient time to truly sit back, recover, devise improved plans, and progress for my family and friends,” he stated.

He stated that he aims to be a role model for young people and demonstrate to them that they “can achieve something much better and positive” and that “making the right choices and following the right path is admirable.”

Quando Rondo was initially accused of the more severe offense of drug conspiracy and engaging in criminal gang activities, but later reached an agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

The contentious rapper had earlier expressed remorse for his behavior, stating: “I’ve experienced highs and lows, but I recognize I can improve — not only for myself, but for the community that has backed me. Savannah expects more from me, and I’m putting in effort to improve myself.”

Rondo has an active case concerning a DUI after a high-speed automobile accident in July 2023. He has entered a plea of not guilty in that matter.

The artist behind “I Remember” was allegedly spotted driving fast before colliding with another vehicle. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly exhibiting signs of an overdose, prompting medical professionals on-site to give him Narcan.

Rondo has not made any statements regarding the overdose reports.

Nevertheless, he recently marked eight months of being sober.

The rapper described his path to quitting drugs on Instagram, stating: “I have been clean for 8 months now!!! However, these three aside from Flash, I really know believe in me for real! Budda scream & large bro wac RIP!! I’ve been extremely high tonight; I’ve come a long way, and that’s the only thing I value about this life. I truly love being sober now!

He stated: “I ONCE CONSUMED A LOT OF DRUGS TBLACC & PLUTO THEY’D SAY IM HALLUCINATING BUT IM SHOCKED I DIDNT O.D. THAT JUST SHOWS IM HERE FOR A PURPOSE!”
