The producer of the late rapper’s song “Girl Of My Dreams,” which he co-wrote with BTS singer Suga, is suing Juice WRLD’s estate.
Joshua Jaramillo claims to have worked on the posthumous 2021 single and had an agreement in place for five percent ownership of the music and one percent of the revenues, according to documents obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, July 31.
He alleges that despite his repeated demands, he has not received a breakdown of the song’s earnings or the entire amount he is due, therefore he is now suing for unspecified damages and a complete accounting.
In related news, it’s anticipated that Juice WRLD and XXXTENTACION will work together on two new tracks together after passing away.
Last month, Lil Bibby, who was in charge of Juice’s previous label, Grade A Productions, publicly hinted to new songs from the deceased artists on social media.
The Chicago native, who once performed as a rapper, shared a screenshot of a group chat with several members of X and Juice’s teams on Instagram Stories. The thread was headlined “Juice wrld xxx.”
The identical photo was shared on XXXTENTACION’s official Instagram account as well.
Before X and Juice passed away, DJ Scheme, who collaborated closely with both, increased anticipation by posting on X (previously Twitter) that “Confirmed 2 Song[s] Are Coming Out.”
Since both rappers passed away—Juice WRLD from a heroin overdose a year later and XXXTENTACION from a gunshot wound in 2018—rumors have circulated regarding a collaboration between the two deceased artists.
DJ Scheme declared in 2020 that he was “working hard to make this happen.” But at the time of his passing, Juice’s fiancée wasn’t entirely sure that a partnership would materialize.
Ally Lotti replied, “I don’t think it will come out,” to a fan on social media. If it had been, I assume it would have happened sooner. I have video from that evening, so I dunno. J composed two or three songs while we were staying in a hotel room abroad.
“I was there when he recorded the verse for Jah,” she went on. This wasn’t fresh information; it happened more than a year and a half or two years ago, yal.
Following X’s shooting death at a Florida motorsports dealership, Juice released a two-track EP honoring both the newly deceased Lil Peep and the hitmaker “Look At Me!”
Fans of both rappers have benefited from multiple posthumous releases: two whole Juice WRLD albums will be out in 2020 and 2021, while the same amount of X projects will be out in 2018 and 2019.
