Marlon Wayans has encouraged Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Rick Ross to follow J. Cole’s example and resolve their differences.
The actor and comedian lamented the ongoing dispute in response to the widely shared footage of Rozay being assaulted by Drizzy supporters in Vancouver for playing Kendrick’s hate song “Not Like Us.”
Wayans posted an explanation of his position on Instagram, saying, “Dear Hip Hop. Up until individuals begin to get wounded, everything is fun and games. Do not forget that history repeats itself! I knew Biggie and Tupac. I saw them both 20 minutes before they were shot, and I partied and hung out with them.
“There is actual violence. It is possible to touch everyone. Refuse to give in to the devil. I cherish the relationships with @champagnepapi, @richforever, @kendricklamar, and @losangelesconfidentinal. I tell all of my brothers, [The Game], that there is enough food for everyone.
Wayans went on to discuss Cole’s amicably ending their feud and his apology to Kendrick Lamar for making fun of him on “7 Minute Drill.”
“Everyone should do what @realcolworld did. In harmony, love, and optimism,” he penned. “Life is fleeting… significantly shorter if you focus more of your attention on dismantling rather than enhancing one another. I detest watching our kings engaged in combat. There are not enough of us. QUIT! I say this out of love. OG MW at all times.
Recently, Childish Gambino also attacked Kendrick and Drake’s beef, saying it was indicative of a worrying trend in modern society.
“It seems like people aren’t enjoying themselves enough,” There were great things that would bring us together when I was a child, and I’m sorry for you guys. You folks just don’t grasp it; this generation is so blind. “Most things that are accessible to all are usually flawed,” he said in response to viewers on TikTok Live.
“We’ve got the greatest enjoyment from a fight even this year. “A song from a fight, from a rap beef,” he went on, alluding to Kendrick Lamar’s smash hit diss track “Not Like Us.” which I relished every second of. It was a lot of fun. However, it is quite unfavorable in several aspects, I suppose.
Additionally, Questlove denounced the feud on Instagram, writing, “Nobody won the war.” It wasn’t a skill issue here. This was mudslinging, takedown at the level of a wrestling match, with ladies, children, and actual facts be damned.
The same people who are calling for blood will soon post “rip” posts as though they weren’t involved in the issue. It’s true that hip hop is dying.
