The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, states that the party recognizes moles hindering its advancement.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses its disappointment over the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It encouraged serving governors in the PDP to persist in acknowledging their responsibility as leaders in the opposition party given political authority by the voters who elected them

“The PDP feels completely let down by those actions, considering what we are aware of behind the scenes.” “Nonetheless, individuals have the right to choose their actions; the repercussions may ensue,” state Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday.

Ologunagba mention that the PDP recognized the presence of infiltrators hindering the party’s advancement.

‘Moles Within PDP’

He, nonetheless, guaranteed that the PDP national convention set to occur in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November would revitalize the party from its base and reorient it for upcoming elections.

“Certain individuals within our group persist in sabotaging the party and its advancement.” We acknowledge that, but we are addressing it. “I liken this to a scenario where a lunatic is in a China store; you need to be systematic and intentional in attempting to get out of that.”

“We concentrate on the Nigerian populace as a party; we prefer not to emphasize any one person too much because it’s not about individuals; it’s about the people, and that is our power,” he stated. “And we will head to Ibadan, emerging triumphantly with a fresh National Working Committee that will keep guiding the party’s direction.” A party must be held before discussing candidates.

“Therefore, our goal is to build a strong foundation, identify individuals with character, integrity, capability and bravery to manage the party’s operations, giving Nigerians a choice,” he stated.

‘No Betrayal’

Mbah officially left the PDP for the APC on Tuesday in a state-wide broadcast to the state’s residents

He stated that the action was not a betrayal but motivated by the necessity to better represent the interests of the state’s citizens.

“This is neither a betrayal nor an abandonment.”

“It revolves around the belief that the people have given me their mandate, and it also entails a responsibility for me to uphold that mandate on a platform that will best benefit the people,” the governor said to reporters shortly after revealing his defection.

Mbah’s switch occurred months following the migration of his previous PDP colleagues, Governor Sheriff Obvwevori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, to the ruling party with all their staff and appointees earlier this year.

Following the recent defection, the opposition party now holds nine serving governors among Nigeria’s 36 state governors
