After the rapper’s performance in his hometown of Louisville, Devontae Beach, the manager of EST Gee, was discovered in a car and later shot and died.
According to WLKY, Beach, 31, was found dead at the scene in a car next to the KFC YUM! Center after sustaining several gunshot wounds.
It’s unclear if Beach was the intended victim of the shooting and no suspects have been named as of yet.
The Louisville Metro Police Department reports that early on Sunday morning, July 21, a member of the public reported seeing gunfire. Around 1:30 a.m., police arrived on the site.
Beach was pronounced dead a short while later by emergency personnel.
EST Gee hasn’t addressed the killing with a statement yet.
Wave3, a local media outlet, has stated that security concerns were raised about the Summer Jam event, which featured performances by Lil Baby, Yo Gotti, 42 Dugg, Icewear Vezzo, and other artists.
Enhanced security measures had been implemented for the event, according to a venue spokesman, and these “effectively ensured a secure environment for everyone attending the concert.”
Eric Mosley, the former manager of EST Gee, was previously detained by the FBI on suspicion of cocaine trafficking, along with several other individuals connected to the CMG rapper.
As members of the purported gang Everybody Shine Together, Gee and Mosley have been linked to a number of violent and drug-related crimes.
If found guilty, Mosley may receive a maximum sentence of life in prison.
“While too many families have experienced unspeakable tragedies from the violent crime plaguing our city, FBI Louisville, LMPD, and other law enforcement partners are strategically focused on pursuing the most violent and persistent offenders,” stated FBI Louisville Special Agent in Charge Jodi Cohen in a statement following the arrest.
“The gang members who were apprehended last week have too long harassed our communities, but they will pay for what they have done. We are making every effort to locate, look into, and capture you and your associates, gang members who still act with such flagrant disdain for other people.
The $300,000 bond for Kevon Lawless, who is currently facing the death penalty after being suspected of killing Trinity Randolph, age 3, and her father Brandon Waddles in 2020, was also funded by Everybody Shine Together Entertainment.
