After supporting APC candidate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, three gubernatorial contenders withdrew from Saturday’s election in Ondo.
This was revealed by the candidates during a solidarity visit to Mr. Aiyedatiwa on Thursday in Akure, where Ajibola Falaye, the Accord Party candidate, addressed on behalf of the three parties.
Jenyo Ataunoko, the National Rescue Movement’s candidate for governor, and Olaide Rasheed Ibrahim, the African Democratic Congress’s candidate for deputy governor, are the other two.
Adeyemi Nejo, the ADC’s candidate for governor, has previously stated that he supported Mr. Aiyedatiwa.
Mr. Falaye stated that their choice to support the incumbent governor in Saturday’s election was predicated on their observations of his enduring dedication to public service, which dates back to his tenure as deputy governor.
We have been keeping an eye on him, and he welcomes everyone. Under his leadership, the state has been comparatively peaceful, which is indicative of his dedication to protecting our citizens’ lives,” Mr. Falaye stated.
“We see the infrastructure development that has taken place even within this short period,” the politician continued. The governor is obviously actively serving the interests of the populace.
“We will translate our commitment into votes this Saturday. We’ll vote to keep Ondo State in place.
In response, Mr. Aiyedatiwa thanked the candidates and their parties for the support, describing it as a good decision taken with good intentions.
The governor of Ondo said, “I am thankful that my fellow candidates have willingly embraced my mandate and are prepared to rally their supporters to vote for the APC, even though I didn’t call for this.”
