Gunna has responded to numerous claims that his plea agreement in the YSL RICO case compromised his allegiance to Young Thug by utilizing his most recent partnership with Offset.
In actuality, it opens the Atlanta rapper’s line on Set’s most recent single, “Style Rare,” which was released on Friday, June 28.
Gunna responds to claims that he gave Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team some information as part of his December 2022 plea deal in the first two lines of his verse.
Gunna raps on the song, saying, “Like Raiders, we ball, never thought they would raid us. I won’t trade my team, I could never be a traitor.”
Gunna was released from prison in 2022 after accepting a plea deal that will give him credit for time served. When the YSL rapper, real name Sergio Kitchens, returned to court on December 14 for a virtual hearing, he entered a guilty plea to a charge of racketeering conspiracy, according to WSB-TV.
Gunna entered an Alford plea with his legal team, pleading guilty to a single charge since it was better for him to do so in terms of maintaining his freedom.
Consequently, Gunna received a five-year term, of which one was served in prison, where he has been ever since his arrest in May as part of the Young Thug-led YSL indictment. According to reports, Gunna will have the remaining four years of his sentence “suspended,” with the remaining time served through 500 hours of community service.
Since then, Gunna’s ex-partner Lil Baby has been a vocal critic of hers.
In a clip from an unreleased song from last summer, Baby seemed to be taking a subtle jab at Gunna and the other defendants who entered pleas of not guilty.
On the song, he rapped, “Pussy n-ggas taking pleas/ I know Slime aint happy.”
A few months later, after their song was performed at one of his concerts, the leader of 4PF made another, more pointed jab at his former partner.
A video that went viral on the internet purportedly showed Baby telling the venue speakers to “Drip Too Hard” before exclaiming, “Fuck the rats, turn this shit off.”
Lil Baby has been throwing some pretty darts, but Gunna has insisted that Young Thug doesn’t hate him.
The “Fukumean” rapper talked candidly about his relationship with his label head in an April interview with XXL, adding, “It’s the same.” Always, it’s love. Our bond is unique to us.
But it appears that Young Thug has now chosen Lil Baby over Gunna.
In a rare social media message from jail on Wednesday, June 26, Thugger—who is presently on trial in the YSL RICO case—seemed to draw a boundary.
“Whateva wham say goes,” he wrote, alluding to Lil Baby’s moniker.
