October 19, 2024 is the date set by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for the state’s local government elections.
The date was revealed by the commission’s chairwoman, Hajara Mohammed, during a meeting with political parties and other interested parties in Kaduna on Tuesday.
According to Ms. Mohammed, the present council members’ three-year term would come to an end on October 31, 2024, having been sworn in on November 1, 2021.
She declared, “KAD-SIECOM is in charge of setting up the state’s elections for chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and council members. The general public is officially advised that the LGA council election will take place in Kaduna on Saturday, October 19, 2024, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., in accordance with the provisions of section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024.
“The election schedule was released by the commission today, Tuesday, July 16, 2024.”
Ms. Mohammed went on to say that the election schedule and criteria for 2024 had been made public.
Concerned parties were reassured by Ms. Mohammed that the electoral commission was prepared to hold the polls on the scheduled day.
