The leader of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed his sorrow at the passing of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the president-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
In response to the news of Mr. Iwuanyanwu’s passing on Thursday, Mr. Obi said on his X handle that he was hopeful the politician would recover from an unidentified illness.
He said everyone who knew him is devastated by the heartbreaking news of his demise.
“He assured me that he will soon be well enough to carry on with his contributions to the advancement of the country when I saw him a few weeks ago. I prayed for him to recover quickly and completely ever since, till I learned of his untimely demise.
“I express my deepest sympathies to his immediate family, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the whole country on the passing of this esteemed father.
Mr. Obi prayed, “May God give us all the strength to bear his sad loss and grant him eternal rest.”
After a brief illness, the lawmaker and leader of the South-East passed on Thursday morning, according to family sources.
