Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that his side do not need a “reset” despite the Gunners suffering a dip in form in recent weeks. The north Londoners have taken just one point from three Premier League games, losing to Bournemouth and Newcastle United, and drawing 2-2 at home to league leaders Liverpool. They were also dealt a 1-0 defeat by Inter in the UEFA Champions League.
Mikel Arteta has claimed that Arsenal do not need a “reset”, despite taking just a single point from their last three Premier League games.
Arteta’s side were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United on Saturday, and fell to the same scoreline in the UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan on Wednesday.
The Gunners were also beaten by Bournemouth 2-0 – where William Saliba was sent off – and held to a 2-2 draw by Liverpool.
The North London outfit sit 12th of 36 teams in the Champions League table, while they are fifth in the Premier League, seven points adrift of Arne Slot’s Liverpool at the summit.
Asked whether he needed to freshen anything up, Arteta insisted there is no need for big changes.
“I don’t think about [needing a reset],” he said. “Nobody works harder than me, I guarantee you that.
“We don’t need a reset. In one particular aspect, we need to go from 95 [effort] to 100. I will not tell you what that is.”
The Spaniard refused to give any details on Declan Rice’s availability for Arsenal’s next league game – against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium – after the England midfielder was sidelined for the trip to Milan with injury.
Captain Martin Odegaard returned for a five-minute cameo at the San Siro, but Arteta did not confirm whether the Norwegian was ready to start against their West London rivals.
“I have to be very vague on [Rice] because there is no clarity on if he is going to be fit or not for the weekend,” Arteta said.
“He hasn’t trained yet and it is not clear yet whether he is going to be available.”
