In order to lessen flooding, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has advised Jigawa people to exercise caution and pay attention to safety precautions.

This was said in a statement released on Monday by Ahmad Ibrahim, the NOA director for Jigawa.

According to the National Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS), which predicted that the state would probably see significant downpours in the upcoming weeks, the call was urgent.

According to Mr. Ibrahim, human activity is to blame for climate change, which includes recurring floods that inflict nationwide property loss and displacement as well as fatalities.

“The Federal Ministry of Environment’s FEWS Center report on flood prediction indicates that heavy rainfall may cause flooding in Miga, Ringim, Hadejia, and Dutse,” he stated.

Additionally, there has been talk of the Tiga Dam in Kano possibly failing, which might lead to flooding in several Jigawa state towns and villages.

“Therefore, in order to lessen the effects of this impending tragedy on our communities, people must be aware, especially about the need to be proactive.”
