NLE Choppa intends to change direction and release an album in an entirely different genre before the year concludes.

Speaking on X over the weekend, the Memphis rapper disclosed that he will be venturing into the R&B genre for his last release of 2024.

“Releasing An R&B Project Before Year End Mama,” he posted with heart emojis on Saturday (November 30).

The initiative will succeed September’s Slut SZN, which also served as the soundtrack for his independently produced and directed reimagining of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s stoner film The Wash.

Despite being born a year after the film’s release in 2001, NLE Choppa was motivated to star in his own personal remake and make his directorial debut with music video director Ben Marc.

NLE Choppa Presents: The Wash includes contributions from Lil Wayne, Sukihana, JP, and others, along with numerous well-known influencers. As per TMZ, it was entirely spontaneous and all participants improvised their roles.

In other news, Complex’s ranking of the twenty best rappers in their 20s sparked a furious reaction from NLE Choppa when he wasn’t included in September.

“To the person who created that Complex list, I need to tell you this: you really should go pursue rock and roll or something else,” he stated in a six-minute tirade. “Look, I’ve been holding back, I’ve been attempting to stay more optimistic, I’ve been working on being more of a guiding light for these individuals.” But you all have me messed up. “Y’all continue to mess with me.”

He went on to state that he had no issues with anyone who appeared on the list, featuring Cash Cobain, Sexyy Red, Lil Uzi Vert, GloRilla, and leading the pack, Playboi Carti.

“I’m not undermining anyone on that damn list, no matter how you look at it,” NLE stated. “However, you should have done 21 instead of 20 if you meant to exclude me from that list, you know.”

In his defense, NLE highlighted his age (“I’m 21, bro. Who accomplished what I did at 21, my dude?”); his sales figures (“Eighteen platinum [plaques], six or seven gold… Check the certifications. Tell me who is surpassing me.”); and his performance record (“Packed venues all around: America, Europe, Australia, Canada.”)

“Who has been ruling the entire year in the male environment?” he inquired.
