In order to promote and preserve President Tinubu’s administration’s cultural legacy, a $100 billion economic expansion fund has been established, according to Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Hannatu Musa-Musawa.

Musa-Musawa, represented by the Director of Cultural Industry and Heritage, Rev. Ben Ugo, spoke at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday. He acknowledged Nigeria’s cultural diversity and stated that the Federal Government aims to make the country a cultural hub by 2030.

Additionally, the annual Ojude Oba festival is being considered for listing as a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Event.

While speaking, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun stated that his administration planned to make the Ojude Oba celebration a global event.

According to him, the annual festival has evolved from a simple gathering of Ijebu people to celebrate the Awujale to one that draws both national and international audiences.

He clarified that the festival, which has grown to be a popular tourist destination, represents and symbolizes the group identity of those recognized for their diligence, tenacity, and industry.

“The Ojude Oba festival has evolved into a major event that draws both domestic and foreign tourists to Ogun State, showcasing our hospitality and the enviable tradition of Ijebuland to a national and international audience,” he added. “It is not only a cultural heritage for the Ijebuland indigenous people.”

“This festival is a symbol of unity, tourism, and a rallying point for all Ijebu sons and daughters to celebrate our tradition, culture, and revered monarch.

It has become a catalyst for the development of Ijebuland, emphasizing the importance of preserving our traditions for future generations.”

The essence of unity and harmony in Ijebuland can be seen willingly in cultural events like this festival.

“Our administration is deeply committed to supporting the initiative to make it a permanent event in the global tourism industry,” he said.

The governor noted that the event creates opportunities for advancement which have brought about the socio-economic development not only to the axis but the state as a whole. “By standing for unity and harmony, we elevate our community and set an example for others to follow.”

According to him, the festival gives the Ijebu people a chance to reflect and look to the future. He urged everyone in the state to live in harmony and togetherness, saying that it was time to cooperate in order to create a virile state.

“The governor concluded by saying that the state government will keep fostering an environment that is favorable for community development throughout the state and I ask for everyone’s support, especially from all of your sons and daughters, for the 20th National Sports Festival, Gateway Games, 2024, which will be held in part here in Ijebu-Ode.”

Chairman of the 2024 Ojude Oba festival, Chief Olu Okuboyejo, praised the governor for his support for the festival and the people for turning up enmass to celebrate the event.
