Nelly Furtado once declined Drake’s invitation to join him on stage in their shared hometown of Toronto – but not due to a lack of admiration for the superstar rapper.
During her appearance on the well-known Call Her Daddy podcast last month, the “Promiscuous” singer disclosed that her “no” was merely due to Drizzy’s last-minute request.
“She told me he requested my presence at 1 a.m. when it was 11 p.m.” “I care for him deeply, but I thought, ‘I can’t appear without looking fabulous.’” Due to his immense fame, it will be ubiquitous. I wasn’t able to attend then, but regardless, I care for him deeply. He’s an excellent person. He truly showcased Toronto uniquely and represented Canada as a whole.
She does, however, wish they could collaborate on a record someday.

Although she rejected his invitation then, Nelly Furtado did agree to join Drake on stage in 2022 during the opening night of his October World Weekend.

In his speech, he recalled witnessing JAY-Z introduce Kardinal Offishall at a city performance as a teenager, a moment he claims transformed his life.
“This is likely one of, if not the most significant events we’ve ever held for OVO October World Weekend,” he stated. “I recall being around 17 years old, standing in a parking lot while I watched JAY-Z perform at an event known as Roc The Caribana.” It felt like the very first moment JAY-Z truly visited the city and expressed his affection for us.
“I’ll always remember: he was showcasing all his new talents like Teairra Marí — I’m not sure if you all know who she is.” Later in the evening, he introduced one of the most significant figures in this city, a man known as Kardinal Offishall. To me, it was truly a moment that opened up something in my mind. It helped me understand that everything here is achievable. Therefore, I wish to express my gratitude to him — to both of them — for that moment.
