Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, announced on Monday that he would spearhead the Peoples Democratic Party’s campaigns in all 16 of the state’s local government districts in advance of the upcoming congresses.

Rumors that Fayose had left the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress were denied by the politician. The former governor addressed party members and supporters in the local government areas of Emure and Ise after giving a speech in Ado Ekiti during a PDP stakeholders’ meeting at the NTS Events Center.

“I feel satisfied with the works that Governor Oyebanji has done so far in the state,” he said, adding that he felt it was important to praise Oyebanji for the work the governor has done. “BAO is a governor who is modest. He has come to see me in Lagos thirteen times. We talked on the state’s advancement and development. I have to give him my respect. Politics has nothing to do with that. He is the only governor in the state who has managed to unite his fellow governors.

“We shall face him when it comes time for elections. As the governor of Ekiti State, I am historic. Because Asiwaju is a Yoruba man and it’s time for us to have our own president, we backed him in the previous presidential election, he declared. Fayose urged PDP members in Ekiti State to unite and make sure that divisions and factions have no place among them in order to stop the party from dying.

“I have come to tell you that the PDP in Ekiti State must not perish,” he declared. Let’s work together; the PDP in Ekiti is out of order. In order to win the state’s election, let’s strive for peace and eliminate any sections within the PDP that support Biodun Olujimi, Ayodele Fayose, Bisi Kolawole, or Duro Faseyi. “I am starting campaigns in two local government districts ahead of the congresses. I plan to visit every local government region and provide logistical support for our party’s election. The former governor declared, “I am not seeking opposition. If you think Fayose is unimportant, wait until the election; you will see.”
