Muhammad Goronyo, the minister of state for water resources and sanitation, has urged Nigerians to continue believing in President Bola Tinubu’s new hope program for the nation, particularly the youth.
For the sake of the country, the minister counseled the youth to postpone the planned nationwide protest.
He made the request on Friday during a public meeting and all-inclusive stakeholder session hosted by the Sokoto State government.
The planned national demonstration against the rising cost of living and economic hardship was discussed throughout the session.
Regardless of their differences, Nigerians, according to Mr. Goronyo, shouldn’t allow the planned demonstration weaken their sense of patriotism or jeopardize the integrity of their country.
“We are just one year and two months into this government’s four-year term,” he declared. Nigerians must be just and patriotic, and they must wait for the government to act. After taking over the responsibilities and assets of the previous government, Tinubu’s administration bravely decided to advance development and deepen democracy.
The planned protest, according to the ministry, is a “politically-motivated treachery” that aims to weaken the country and damage the President. Patriotic people have to get together to stop this planned demonstration of destruction.
He remarked, “Similar circumstances have driven nations like Sudan and Libya into never-ending economic setbacks, collapsing nearly all infrastructure and resources.”
He mentioned that Sokoto State made the choice to abstain from the protest, citing an interactive session with stakeholders presided over by Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State.
In order to steer the nation toward a successful future, Mr. Goronyo emphasized the need of backing President Tinubu and stated that the current administration, which is led by the All Progressives Congress, is dedicated to keeping its campaign pledges.
Citing the President’s oath of office, Mr. Goronyo brought up Mr. Tinubu’s statement that he had to fulfill his obligation to lead the country as president as he had chosen to run.
The minister declared that the protests were pointless and that a year and two months was insufficient to evaluate the President’s performance.
According to him, the Tinubu-led government is committed to advancing the renewed hope agenda, with a particular emphasis on enhancing security, promoting inclusivity, lowering poverty, and bolstering the rule of law.
