The Polish federation (PZPN) declared on Saturday that forward Arkadiusz Milik of Poland will miss Euro 2024 due to a knee injury he sustained in a pre-tournament warm-up match.

The 30-year-old Juventus player sustained the injury on Friday in Warsaw during Poland’s 3-1 friendly victory over Ukraine.

“The Polish national team suffered a number of injuries during the friendly match against Ukraine, one of which – that of Arkadiusz Milik – unfortunately proved serious enough to exclude the footballer from the European Championships final tournament,” the PZPN stated in a statement posted on its website. “After returning to his club, the player will have a knee arthroscopy.”

Polish players Nicola Zalewski, Michal Skoras, Bartosz Salamon, Jakub Kiwior, and Kacper Urbanski were also knocked out during the match against fellow Euro 2024 participants Ukraine. Poland’s Euro campaign kicks off on June 16 against the Netherlands. Five days later, they play Austria. Finally, on June 25, they finish their Group D game against France.
