The cover art and release date for Ice Cube’s forthcoming eleventh album, Man Down, have been made public.
The 55-year-old rapper and actor made the announcement on Instagram, writing: “My fans have been waiting for this album.” Pre-save the album now as MAN DOWN will be released on November 22.
A Black adolescent is also shown on the cover image strolling through several Los Angeles streets while passing by different individuals who are lying face down on the ground.
An Apple Music tracklist indicates that Man Down will consist of 19 songs with some well-known collaborations.
Cube has enlisted a number of West Coast icons for the project, including Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes, who contributed to the new tune “Ego Maniacs.”
October London is open to guest appearances on the album, including Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Kurupt, B-Real, E-40, and Too $hort.
Cube promised fans that they would be getting a classic dose of genuine West Coast rap in his debut album in six years during an appearance on Bootleg Kev’s show.
“I was like, ‘When I pick up an Anita Baker record, I want it to sound like Anita Baker,'” he remarked, referring to the Laugh Now, Cry Later album.
I had the impression that Ice Cube fans shared this sentiment. They want it to be a genuine, classic Ice Cube when they pick it up. That’s what I’ve been anxious to deliver. I’ve been concentrating on making records that are authentically me.
Fans may be shocked to learn that Cube recently talked about the professional achievement of which he was most proud, even though it had nothing to do with music.
“I would say Friday because I was kind of out of my element as far as writing and producing,” he remarked in an interview with Iman Amongst Men. Everyone was taken aback when I performed a comedy because my music at the time wasn’t funny.
“Everyone thought I was tripping a little bit because we had funny little parts in our music, but everything was hardcore. They thought, ‘Damn, Ice Cube’s coming with a comedy?'”
“I learned from ‘It Was a Good Day,'” he continued. It seemed to me like Friday in song form. Since everything was difficult, this is me coming out of the box and then [flipping it].
