Lil Wayne has allegedly finalized the signing of highly regarded NFL prospect Travis Hunter to his Young Money sports agency.
Hunter, who uniquely performs on both offense and defense, is projected to be among the top selections in next year’s NFL Draft, no matter what position he ultimately plays.
As reported by Front Office Sports, Young Money APAA Sports have secured the representation of Hunter, who recently claimed the Heisman Trophy as the top player in college football.
It is thought that Wayne’s emerging sports agency surpassed more established industry giants like CAA, WME, and Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports Group.
Neither Hunter nor Young Money have commented on the reports yet, but there’s speculation that the two parties might collaborate in some way after the Colorado Buffaloes star mentioned Lil Wayne during his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech.
Looking at the rap icon present in the audience, he remarked: “Wayne, you have no idea how you entered my life, man. My future spouse adores you. I wasn’t aware of any of your songs until she informed me since I don’t listen to music.
“She said, ‘You need to hear this. If you aren’t into music, give Wayne a listen. And starting that day, that’s all I pay attention to. Pregame tunes, those are the tracks I enjoy. When I hop into that [Dodge Ram] TRX and turn up the music, I’m vibing to Wayne.”
Hunter proceeded to give his best Weezy impersonation, rapping lines from his 2011 hit “6 Foot 7 Foot” and then added: “That’s my track.”
Wayne eventually reciprocated the affection on X (previously Twitter), posting: “Congrats 2my brudda Travis mfkn Hunter!!! Heisman Trophy recipient! Fantastic speech, King, and Moms’ speech was equally impressive! She should be on TV somewhere!
“Congratulations to Ashton, Cam, Dillon, and all of their families!” Honored to be among the great. Love you, Unk! Ideal timing! “Go Buffs!”
Young Money Sports presently manages talent in various sports, such as the NFL and NBA, as well as soccer and numerous college athletes.
Nonetheless, it was reported last year that the agency lost their top client, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, due to Lil Wayne’s political opinions and his backing of incumbent president Donald Trump.
