The Chicago rapper’s court proceedings will start on Oct. 14, 2025, rather than in mid-January.
Lil Durk’s trial for murder-for-hire is being assigned a new date. On Tuesday (Dec. 31) evening, the rapper’s legal team consented to move the planned proceedings to Oct. 14 rather than the initially suggested Jan. 7.
Court documents indicate that the government is presently generating a discovery that comprises “around 230 GB of digital evidence,” including audio recordings and surveillance videos. Moreover, it will include roughly “20,000 pages of reports related to murder and other violent incidents, photographs, witness accounts, and medical paperwork.”
Regarding the reason for the trial’s postponement, prosecutors indicated that the case was “exceptionally unusual and quite complex” because of the number of defendants, rendering it almost “unrealistic to anticipate sufficient preparation for pretrial activities or the trial itself.”
Lil Durk’s co-defendant Asa “Boogie” Houston, scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14, has already contested the ruling. In the meantime, Deandre Dontrell Wilson — one of the five Only The Family (OTF) members who were detained in October — is requesting a “pre-plea sentencing report.”
The rapper of “All My Life” was refused bond in December. His lawyers proposed to provide $1 million in cash from Sony Music and an additional $2.3 million in home equity. They also suggested keeping him under round-the-clock observation. Nonetheless, Judge Patricia Donahue contended that there was no method to “adequately ensure the community’s safety” and that Lil Durk holds “a considerable degree of influence over others.”
Among the allegations directed at the Chicago native are conspiracy, utilization of interstate means to execute murder-for-hire leading to death, and using, carrying, and discharging firearms — including a machine gun — to further a violent crime resulting in death. Prosecutors suspect he played a role in a retaliation shooting that resulted in the 2022 murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab.
