Due to a thigh injury, Poland’s Robert Lewandowski will miss his team’s opening Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands on Sunday.

The 35-year-old suffered the injury during Monday’s 2-1 victory against Turkey in their final pre-tournament warm-up match.

After thirty-three minutes, Barcelona player Lewandowski was substituted out.

Poland’s second match is against Austria on June 21; their last Group D match is against France on June 25.

“Lewandowski suffered a rupture of the biceps femoris muscle, which will exclude him from the first match of the tournament,” according to a statement from Poland.

Although they both sustained injuries, forward Karol Swiderski and defender Pawel Dawidowicz are expected to “return to full training within three to four days”.
