The new album by Latto is about to be counted down. The “Lottery” musician disclosed on Wednesday night, July 24, that Sugar Honey Iced Tea will be available on August 9. She also released a short trailer featuring Big Rube’s narration.
The video featured cameos by T.I. and 2 Chainz, with whom she has worked. In the meantime, astute viewers pointed out in the comments that the teaser trailer featured Coco Jones’ vocals and Playboi Carti’s adlibs. Latto also debuted a couple new songs, one of which featured a sample from the 2003 smash song “24’s” by Trap Muzik composer.
“She was straight dropping lyrics and hustling, while y’all were hopscotching and Double Dutching,” Rube remarked. “Even then, she was well on her way to conquering the city.”
“Her ascent now lights the ATL sky, a monument to her hustle. Her talent must be acknowledged. A peach from the source, intensely delicious and robust. Every song embraces the soul of Atlanta,” he went on. “Her impact is nearly beyond what words can convey. Atlanta’s rap dynasty’s leading lady, Big Latto, is the next generation. Have some sugar honey iced tea.
Latto’s first album since 777 in 2022, which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart, will be Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Her second album contained singles like “Big Energy,” “Sunshine,” and “Wheelie,” which featured 21 Savage. Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Nardo Wick, and Kodak Black were among the other featured.
The Grammy nominee released “Sunday Service” in February, while it hasn’t been confirmed to be on the forthcoming album. A few months later, she released a remix of the song featuring Flo Milli and Megan Thee Stallion. Latto also made her two-part debut with “Big Mama” during the end of June.
The rapper has performed outside of her own songs, such as on Jennifer Lopez’s “Can’t Get Enough” and Usher’s “A-Town Girl” earlier in the year.
