Latto and Ice Spice exchanged barbs with one another earlier in the year on the songs “Think U The S**t (Fart)” and “Sunday Service,” respectively. But the rapper from Atlanta claims that their animosity isn’t that deep.
In an interview with Billboard on Friday, July 19, Latto talked about their back and forth and why she doesn’t think their dispute will be as intense as that of Kendrick Lamar and Drake. “I mean this in the most understanding [way]: I’m a fan of music,” she began. I’m not one of those folks who think everything else is bullshit. I’m not poetic exclusively.
“I would only engage in combat [if] I felt like going tit for tat with that person.” It’s not meant to be offensive. Even so, would she want to do that? The “Big Energy” singer said, “I think she’s doing her in her lane.” There are two distinct vibes. She doesn’t even seem to be saying to me, “Oh, she wants to get into a real rap beef.”
“Everyone gon’ take their lil’ jabs in the music, and it’s not even that serious to me,” Latto said in closing. I think you ought to take that action. Go on! However, I doubt she would even want to send each other their entire diss recordings. Would that even make sense, in my opinion? It wouldn’t.
August marks the release of Sugar Honey Iced Tea, the upcoming album by the Grammy Award candidate. The title is an abbreviation for “s**t,” as some fans have already pointed out. This could be a reference to Ice Spice’s notorious chorus from “Think U The S**t (Fart).”
Latto released two singles before of the album, “Big Mama” and “Sunday Service (Remix),” featuring Flo Milli and Megan Thee Stallion. She also gave a sneak peek at a song in May that flipped T.I.’s “24s.”
