The “incredible money” that a Saudi Arabian club is offering Kevin De Bruyne has hinted that he might contemplate leaving Manchester City, which would be a blow to the champions.

Considered one of the best players to have ever played for the champs, De Bruyne joined City in August 2015. However, the 33-year-old Belgian knows that his career is running out of time.

He told the Belgian publication HLN, “I have to think about what could happen because I still have one year left on my contract.” At eight years old, my eldest child has no knowledge of anything but England. How long will I play for City, he also asks? When that time comes, we’ll need to handle it a certain way.

De Bruyne is the highest paid player in English football, taking home almost £400,000 a week. However, the amounts offered in Saudi Arabia are alluring.

“You have to be open to everything at my age,” he remarked. “You’re discussing enormous sums of money at a time when my career might be coming to an end. You have to consider that sometimes. I will be able to make a huge sum of money if I play there for two years. I had to play football for fifteen years prior to that. I might not even get close to that sum yet.

The next thing you need to consider is what that might imply. However, I haven’t had to consider that as of yet.

Six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups, the Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup have all been won by De Bruyne while he was at City. A key player in City’s 2022–2023 treble-winning team, he has twice been selected as the Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year and three times as the Premier League playmaker of the season.
