Kendrick Lamar’s close friend Lil L once aimed a gun at a young Tyler, The Creator.

In an Instagram post that has resurfaced from 2021, Lil L, a Compton rapper linked with Kendrick, shared several photos of himself in the studio with the founder of Odd Future.

Jason Martin (formerly called Problem) then reminded Lil L that he had pulled a gun on Tyler nearly ten years ago.

In direct message screenshots between the two, Martin mentioned: “That’s the guy you drew a gun on, dern lol.” He was a child back then. It’s wild because the kid turned out to be Tyler, The Creator haha.

Lil L seemed to forget it was the same individual and responded: “Are you serious? “Absolutely not.”

The artist previously known as Problem stated: “Back then, he was merely a 14-year-old boy I was helping out for a favor […] I swear to God.”

Kendrick and Tyler have not openly discussed the incident, and the reason for Lil L pointing a gun at the upcoming star remains undisclosed.

In the meantime, Tyler, The Creator recently expressed admiration for Kendrick by releasing a remix of his GNX track “Hey Now.”

The Hawthorne local posted the track on Christmas Day after a fan messaged him on social media: “I really want @tylerthecreator to freestyle on Hey Now.”

Tyler replied, “Merry Christmas. Enjoyed it” and shared a YouTube link to the remix called “That Guy.”

The “Earfquake” artist appropriately utilized the track to allude to his unexpected performance at Lamar’s significant Pop Out concert earlier this year.

“Lil Bunny Hop out, you spotted me at the Pop Out / Chaos erupting like they just brought ‘Pac out / Cut the small talk, we’re letting loose at the kickback / Major confidence the way I reclaim my respect,” he rapped.

Tyler proudly spoke about the achievements of his recent album Chromakopia: “300K in four days, Chromakopia / 12 days to gold, I haven’t even released deluxe one / Sold a million tickets on the first day for that new stage.”

The video showcasing Tyler’s version of the song also included cameos from his former Odd Future friends Jasper Dolphin, Travis “Taco” Bennett, and Lionel “L-Boy” Boyce.
