Kanye West’s new song snippet might never be released in its completed version, as the French artist sampled in the track has shown her dissatisfaction.
The song snippet that fans refer to as “Highs and Lows” includes a sample from “soleil soleil,” by the French artist Claire Pommet, known as Pomme. On Monday (January 6), Pomme expressed on social media that she disapproved of the song’s usage.
“I am unaware of the origin of the video and audio material that is currently spreading on social media, but I have never consented to the use of this sample for reasons that are clear to me, as I fundamentally disagree with the political views of this artist whom I have, nonetheless, admired before,” she stated.
“At times, it can be tough to let go of specific opportunities, but I strive to remain faithful to my convictions.”

The song fans are referring to as “Highs and Lows” caught their interest when a short video appeared on social media over the weekend, featuring West performing a new track while in Switzerland.
The track seems to showcase a mix of styles, including the fast-paced soul-sampling sound from Kanye’s initial career, along with more maximalist and gospel influences, and he can be heard singing over the rhythm.
Nonetheless, the Chicago native was not at all pleased that someone was filming him while he listened to the song, as he ultimately turned around and gestured for them to stop recording right away.
It was thought that the song would be included on West’s forthcoming album Bully.
Though little information is available about Bully, Kanye revealed the album’s cover art last October.
The piece is a monochrome image of his son Saint sporting fang-like grills akin to those Ye acquired last year, which allegedly cost him $850,000 to reshape his teeth using titanium.
West also disclosed that the close-up photograph was captured by Daidō Moriyama, a seasoned Japanese photographer famous for his black and white street photography.
The G.O.O.D. Music founder is said to be the only producer on the project, signifying the first occasion he’s managed all (or nearly all) of the beats on an album since his 2004 debut, The College Dropout.
