Kanye West expressed affection for his occasional rival Taylor Swift at a New Year’s Eve celebration in the Maldives by spinning her popular track “Shake It Off” while he delivered an unexpected DJ performance for the diverse audience.
In a video taken at the event, Ye shifts from “Shake It Off” to his popular track “Carnival,” and in another segment, he energizes the audience with Bon Jovi’s legendary hit, “Living On A Prayer.”
Ye seemed to be in high spirits all night, singing to his tracks and grinning while engaging with the children near the DJ booth.

During the summer, it appeared that Kanye West was targeted by a Taylor Swift jab after the pop star prevented him from achieving a 12th number one album.
In August, Swift revealed a new digital edition of her album The Tortured Poets Department that includes a live rendition of her track “Thank You Aimee.”
For the launch, the artist altered the title’s stylization to “thank You aimEe,” capitalizing the letters “Y” and “E” — a clear reference to the rapper’s name.
An earlier stylization featured the letters “KIM” in uppercase (“thanK you aIMee”), leading many to believe that Swift was alluding to West’s former spouse, Kim Kardashian.
This chapter in the ongoing saga between the two celebrities arrived soon after Taylor Swift achieved a minor triumph over Kanye West on the music charts.
The week before, The Tortured Poets Department climbed back to the peak of the Billboard 200, stopping Ye’s Vultures 2 album featuring Ty Dolla $ign from starting at No. 1.
Vultures 2 collected 107,000 equivalent units during its opening week, lagging behind the 142,000 that Swift’s album garnered in its 14th week.
The project marks Kanye’s first release since his 2004 debut The College Dropout that hasn’t landed at the top of the chart, which would have placed him fourth among artists with the highest number of number ones on the Billboard 200.
